Siyakhathala supports orphaned and vulnerable children through education, nutrition, care and community empowerment.
Siyakhathala was formed in 2008 and registered as a Non-Profit Organisation in May 2009. We opened our office in 2010 and are based at Kuyasa Primary School in Khayelitsha.
We were established as a response to the increasing number of orphaned children due to the HIV/AIDS and TB pandemic, as well as rising levels of sexual, physical and emotional abuse of children in our community.
Our team is recruited from within the community — unemployed youth, adults and people living with disabilities — because we believe sustainable change begins at home.
Siyakhathala is a formally registered Non-Profit Organisation and Public Benefit Organisation, operating with full compliance and transparency.

Siyakhathala operates across five communities in Khayelitsha and implements programmes at three primary schools. We recruit staff and volunteers from within these communities to help build a self-sustainable future.
